CutPressPrint is a collaboration between three contemporary printmakers in Cornwall who have created and curated an exciting and unique show that will open this Autumn in Truro School’s Heseltine Art Gallery. Included in the show alongside the artist’s work are works from the Truro School Art Collection by Peter Lanyon, Patrick Heron, Wilhelmina Barnes-Graham, Terry Frost and many other significant 20th Century Cornish artists.
Lou Tonkin, Felix Packer and Michael Brett are three professional contemporary printmakers living and working in Falmouth. Between them they have 100 years of creating art in Falmouth. In 2020 they started making work together on drawing trips and sharing their creative practices.
There is a narrative connecting their work to the Truro School Art Collection, which they are using as inspiration and starting points for work in the exhibition. The artists are also alumni of Falmouth Art School, as are many of the artists whose work are in the collection.
The exhibition aims is to get everyone inspired about printmaking as well as educating the next generation. The artists want people to connect with the stories and creative processes behind the works. Workshops will be held at weekends when the exhibition is open and will be advertised nearer the time.CutPressPrint is intended to create a buzz around being creative in Cornwall.
